Mnuchin, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi , and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer have been engaged in tense negotiations for days, with neither side willing to budge.

Democrats are unwilling to go below $2 trillion in total aid, while Senate Republicans have privately expressed hesitation about anything above the $2 trillion price tag.But Pelosi outlined a long list of priorities the two sides remain apart on, including: school funding, aid for housing insecurity, hazard pay and assistance for the Postal Service ahead of the November election.

Mnuchin said that he and Meadows have recommended Trump move ahead with executive orders to address the economic crisis, whichTrump weighed in on Twitter on Friday afternoon, criticizing Democrats for their insistence on additional aid for states and local governments.Schumer and Pelosi have called for $3 trillion in stimulus spending, while White House negotiators have pressed for a $1 trillion price tag.
