Sophomore quarterback Chad Warner was chosen as Jon Wayne Player of the Game. He completed the winning pass to sophomore Royal Capell with just 18 seconds left. “It was a lot of fun,” Warner said. “I saw my guy across the middle, and I threw it, and he caught it and we won the game.”The matchup was a battle of two of the top 6A teams from last season and two of the top 16 preseason picks in Texas this season.

The Bears entered the game ranked No. 12 in the state in Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine.
