SOLON, Ohio – A 127-acre parcel of old growth woods surrounded in part by residential homes at the southeast edge of Cuyahoga County has been designated as a state nature preserve by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Kraus praised ODNR for its willingness to take responsibility for managing Solon Woods, which will continue to be owned by the city. As a state nature preserve it will remain essentially untouched in perpetuity for the public to enjoy. in diameter and probably more than 200 years old, as well as the vernal pools that pop up in the spring and provide breeding habitat for amphibians such as frogs and salamanders.
