Americans abroad still lack a sense of urgency to get back home even though the coronavirus pandemic has intensified, a senior State Department official said on Wednesday, urging them to return now unless they are prepared to remain overseas indefinitely.

“Well, in this case the earthquake has happened. It’s time to seek higher ground now, and not hope for rescue later,” he said. He added that some Americans overseas that the Department contacted would respond by saying they would get back in touch in a couple of weeks instead of making a decision now.

Many commercial airlines have severely reduced or halted their flights to the United States as the pandemic prompted governments across the globe to close their borders and impose nationwide lockdowns.

State Department warns Americans stranded overseas that time is running outMore than 24,000 Americans remain stuck overseas and need help to get home, but assistance may be increasingly hard to come by, authorities said. Wondering why they went during an epidemic And or During another threat to the Globe by China? Makes no sense to me. I can not feel bad for ignorance. Its like taking a vacation to Iraq during this present day war They will wait to the last minute to want out, then blame Trump when it doesn’t happen.. Should’ve stayed home. Don’t feel sorry for these asshats who boarded cruise ships either. Do they not have access to television, internet or newspapers? That’s the only way I’d give them a pass otherwise oh well
