State Democratic organizations across the country are raising record amounts of cash

The influx of money is giving an organizing boost to Joe Biden, Senate Democrats and other candidates heading into November 2020. Presidential candidates typically spend the final months of an election anxiously shoveling money toward state parties to fund get-out-the-vote operations and other critical infrastructure, but Democrats are running ahead of schedule this year.

“There is a much more strategic giving regimen this cycle,” said Tim Lim, a Democratic digital consultant. “There’s a growing recognition that the state parties have a fundamental role to play … and all those donor advisers, donor tables talk to each other about what they’re doing and how best to spend their money.”

“The RNC has consistently invested resources in building a strong state party system as we know it is vitally important to build the Party for years to come where we are the strongest – our grassroots and infrastructure,” Mandi Merritt, the RNC’s national press secretary, said in a statement. “A lot of big donors for years have invested in independent-side work and are starting to come to the realization that building out the infrastructure on the [party] side is just as important,” Martin said.

“Every discussion I have with donors focuses on what the party, and only the party, can do — building volunteer infrastructure, protecting the vote and doing year-round coalition building,” said Juan Peñalosa, executive director of the Florida Democratic Party. “Because, if the state party doesn’t have the resources to do that work, our candidates begin the race three feet behind the starting line.”Click to see Biden's top picks for the VP spot in our new tracker.

Senate Proposal Would Ease State-Tax Burdens for Remote WorkersMillions of remote workers potentially facing higher state-tax burdens for 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic would get relief from a Senate Republican proposal released Monday. Tell the Trumpublicans to give us back our ability to deduct home offices and expenses! Especially now as more folks work from home benefiting their employers by minimizing overhead and keeping revenue stream. This is a Rouge. Take a dollar give us a dime and we say “Thank You”? If it says Republican on it, it must be bad. Republicans bad, Democrats gooood. That's a false headline, because the tax burden isn't 'higher': they had this level of Local taxes when they physically commuted to the office. Corrected headline: 'Tax Break proposed for Workers who moved to teleworking. Change Increases jeopardy of State/Local budgets'

Cal State Approves New Graduation Requirement: Ethnic Studies Or Social Justice ClassCalifornia State University is requiring all students to take an ethnic studies or social justice course in order to graduate. But some faculty oppose the broad measure because it does not ensure students take an actual ethnic studies course. Seriously the worst stat use was in my culturally and linguistically-diverse class. It’s often very biased, and sometimes outright racist stuff. defundNPR
