Years before Star Wars: The Last Jedi, another Star Wars story was told with the same subtitle that Disney should revisit given the studios' expansion of the galaxy. After Disney's sequel trilogy of Star Wars movies, the title of The Last Jedi is synonymous with the eighth entry in the Skywalker Saga.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Before Disney's official tenure as the owner of Lucasfilm though, The Last Jedi had another meaning for those familiar with wider Star Wars stories. Since Lucas began the franchise in the 1970s, various writers, artists, and creatives became involved in a galaxy far, far away.
Star Wars' Original Last Jedi Explained The original The Last Jedi was a Star Wars book released in 2013. The book was written by Michael Reaves and Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff, originally planned to be titled Star Wars Jedi Dawn. However, after realizing that Jedi Dawn was the title of a book from the 90s, the authors switched the title to Star Wars The Last Jedi.
The Last Jedi Would Make A Brilliant Disney+ TV Show This premise would lend itself perfectly to a Disney+ TV show. While the title would have to be altered to avoid confusion with Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the original book would be a brilliant series. The focus on a new Jedi fighting in an underground rebellion on Coruscant is incredibly compelling, with the book's location and tone meaning a show could be made in a similar vein to Andor.
Andor's more grounded, gritty take on Star Wars' Rebellion could be utilized for the original The Last Jedi. Similarly, the fear Pavan has of Vader in the book would allow Hayden Christensen to return as the dark lord of the Sith, something that many fans have been craving more and more since Obi-Wan Kenobi. With Lucasfilm set on expanding the Star Wars universe even further in the coming years, adapting the original The Last Jedi would be a fantastic way to do so.
