Star Wars fan theories are always circulating, but frequent franchise actor Sam Witwer has voiced his support for one particular Death Star explosion theory. The theory spawns from his role in the most recent Star Wars live-action series, Andor. Andor was created by showrunner Tony Gilroy and has featured many characters from his Star Wars spinoff film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In a tweet responding to a fan, Star Wars actor Sam Witwer offered his support for a new fan theory. Check out Sam Witwer's tweet about the fan theory below: The theory, as laid out by the Twitter user, says that Witwer's stormtrooper cameo character in Andor is the one responsible for the eventual destruction of the first Death Star in Star Wars: A New Hope. In Andor, Witwer cameos as the stormtrooper on Niamos who wrongfully arrests Cassian due to suspicion that he was involved in an unrelated trooper chase.
Witwer's portrayal of Galen Marek aka Starkiller in the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed game was his first foray into the franchise. He was brought in to play Darth Vader's secret apprentice, Starkiller, and Witwer not only provided the voice but also the face, making it the only Star Wars character that actually resembles the actor. Witwer has also offered his voice-over talents to other Star Wars roles, with his most iconic being that of Darth Maul.
Witwer has made countless other voice and cameo appearances. In addition to the stormtrooper who arrests Cassian in Andor, Witwer has also voiced The Son during the Mortis arc in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Emperor Palpatine in video games and animated shows, and a long list of both credited and uncredited background voices throughout all genres of Star Wars media. In addition to being a standout performer, he has made his love for the IP very apparent over the years.
