Much is different about this universe, as the Federation is at war with the Breen–and the Breen are winning. In issue two, the USS Avery, the ship the trio find themselves on, engages the Breen.

The Breen were mentioned for many years on both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. They were not seen, however, until Deep Space Nine’s fourth season, in the episode “Indiscretion.” The Breen made sporadic appearances until the show’s final season, when they joined forces with the Dominion.
