Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Star Trek legend Jonathan Frakes praises the acting of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's leading man, Avery Brooks, who portrayed the iconic Captain Benjamin Sisko. Frakes is best known for playing Commander William T. Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Captain Riker on Star Trek: Picard.
In an interview with Variety conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike, Jonathan Frakes examined his catalog of Star Trek episodes he directed, including "Past Tense," a time travel adventure where the then-Commander Sisko posed as a freedom fighter in 21st century San Francisco. Read Frakes' praise for Avery Brooks below: A Man Called Hawk was a 1989 TV series on NBC starring Avery Brooks as an investigator named Hawk.
Will Avery Brooks Play Captain Sisko In Star Trek Again? Unlike his fellow Star Trek Captains like Patrick Stewart, Kate Mulgrew, and Jonathan Frakes, Avery Brooks hasn't portrayed Captain Benjamin Sisko since Star Trek: Deep Space Nine ended in 1999. Sisko concluded his epic saga by ascending into godhood and becoming one with the Prophets of Bajor. Despite Sisko's promise that he would be back, it hasn't happened yet.
Avery Brooks has evidently retired from acting, and he seems to have put Star Trek behind him. But that doesn't stop Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's loyal fandom from hoping Brooks will reprise Captain Sisko once more. Brooks' TV son who played Jake Sisko on DS9, Cirroc Lofton, told Screen Rant that he hasn't ruled out Avery possibly coming back to Star Trek as Captain Sisko one day.
