Representation matters. To all the literal haters in the comments below, there was a time when people didn’t want Nichelle Nichols on the original Star Trek. This is exactly like that. I’m sure they’ll be great characters in the Star Trek tradition.

I think it should be about their character story and not about their sex. If you want to make difference and have everyone finally feel equal, stop making a huge deal about race, sex, sexual orientation and treat everyone the same way. No one should benefit from that
