Monday, May 20, 2024 7:33PMIn the wake of last Thursday's severe weather, Spring Branch Independent School District has announced that schools will remain closed on Tuesday, May 21.The district said that roughly a third of its campuses do not have power. According to officials, the electricity is coming on but shutting off shortly after.District offices, playgrounds, Spark Parks, secondary school sports courts, fields, and tracks will be closed and offline.

SBISD said the district's phone service provider is unstable and prevents incoming and outgoing calls.Several other districts made the decision over the weekend to close for the upcoming week. Cypress-Fairbanks ISD announced Sunday that all its schools will remain closed Monday. In a statement, the district cited travel safety concerns due to the number of broken traffic lights and debris on the roads. Additionally, many of their campuses and families are still without power. CFISD plans to reassess the situation and will provide an update about Tuesday's status.Parents and students are encouraged to stay informed through district communications for the latest updates.
