Sponsors say Alabama lottery and gambling bills probably dead this session. alpolitics

Rep. Chip Brown, a Republican from Mobile County, talks about his proposal for an Alabama lottery after it won committee approval on March 17. Brown said today the plan is likely dead for this legislative session. The Republican sponsors of two distinct legislative plans to allow Alabama voters to decide whether to have a lottery said today they do not expect a vote on their bills during this legislative session.

Albritton’s plan is similar to one that passed the Senate last year but died in the House of Representatives. Albritton said it’s the best approach to establishing regulation over the gambling operations in the state now, including electronic bingo operating in some counties. Albritton’s planthree weeks ago and he was optimistic of a Senate vote at that time. But the plan has not advanced since.

“I’m correct on this issue,” Albritton said. “I know this data, up and down. I’m familiar with the industry. I’m familiar with the challenges. I was optimistic because I felt the arguments would win the day. But the money won the day.”

Shocker

Sick of the republicans in Alabama. I really believe they take money from Tn. Not to pass the lottery. I believe Tn. Pays these crooks to not pass it !!! Every state surrounding Al, has the lottery . We h Guvna also . This state cares nothing about the wishes of the people.

Vote them all out!

Why cant we in Alabama Vote for this! Well…… we continue to take our monies to Georgia, Mississippi, Florida & Tennessee. And even further into the the other States! It’s time people elected have enough -alls or we will vote them Out!

This is going to take a serious grassroots efforts. Once white people start protesting in Montgomery for lottery, this state will start moving up on every list.

Just ANOTHER stupid ALGOP ALHouseGOP move so MORE $$ gets poured into neighboring states... ALONG with buying groceries NOT taxed. Husband is now in FL buying lottery tickets & groceries. SlavaUkraine StandWithUkraine

yal greedy asses dont want the lottery, which generates money on its own, but want people to pay fees that they never should have had or keep people locked up longer than they should! Where did the education come from? too much CRT & Blackface! when we voting for new leadership?

Most Alabamians support having a lottery, yet they continue to elect government officials who vote against it. I swear politically we are one of the dumbest states.

Shocking🤨

That's pathetic.

😂

What a shocker.

I’d like to see a list of legislators who have been bought with Porch Creek money and don’t want the state lottery/ gaming bill. Follow the money…

...again?!

Every talking about the Creek Indians paying politicians...stop going to their shit.

As long as lobbying is legal, & the tribes + out of state casino owners keep running our politicians pockets we will NEVER get casinos

Don’t worry they will all get re-elected in November.

Perpetual Bama L

GovernorKayIvey come on push these guys. That money should stay in Alabama. Call out those getting money from the Mississippi Indians.

Poarch Creek got them all bought off . Just like all the previous administrations. That’s what’s wrong with all politicians. Who’s going to pay me the most. Politicians are not for the people. They are for themselves.

Popular vote says yes, these idiots vote the opposite.

Yeah, gotta keep holding the state back in the 50s.

What to expect as an Alabamian

That tribe money is hard to give up.

Same thing w every year!

This state just wants to stay poor

I still think we'll have recreational marijuana before a lottery

Unbelievable. They just couldn’t get it done. Our state never get a chance to vote on a lottery because it’s dead again. But it could be brought up in the another session or later this year soon. Right now, it’s going backwards. We were so close to bringing the lottery here.

What happens when (R)'s want a 'general slush fund' for profits.

How much are the casinos in Mississippi paying our representatives to keep killing these bills?

This is so ridiculous! I guess it's just too complicated for idiot repubs to figure out even though almost every single state has a lottery & figured it out.

SHOCKER

BOO!!!!!

So sick of them

I guess we’ll just keep sending our money to TN then 🤷‍♀️

Jesus! Our representatives keep pushing their JOB down the road! They are cowards! We are so far behind every state we border!

That’s nothing new

Of course they are. Now report on who is paying to kill those bills.

Alabama just wants to keep letting its neighboring states get all the gambling and lottery money, how sweet of you Alabama

Gov. DeSantis signs Parental Rights in Education bill, LGBTQ groups promise lawsuitGov. Ron DeSantis signed into law the Parental Rights in Education bill on Monday, which opponents call the ”Don’t Say Gay” bill. Guess it’s time to start reporting to the FCC for the media companies still pushing this fake title “made up”. Again explain why you guys so badly want sexual education taught to k - 3rd graders? This has nothing to do with straight, gay, bi, etc. I very much support this bill, society has to change, the patriarchal system, racism, discrimination, prejudice and gender persecution 'must end'!!!
