Warning: SPOILERS for Spider-Man #8Spider-Man's most iconic power, his spider-sense, just received a huge upgrade that also has dangerous side effects. Struggling with his sense of responsibility and the guilt for not saving a man trapped in a burning building, Peter decides to upgrade his spider-sense so that it can signal him when other people are in danger too, but things don't go exactly as planned.
In Spider-Man #8, by Dan Slott, Mark Bagley, John Dell, Andrew Hennessy, and Edgar Delgado, Peter rescues the denizens of a building on fire. However, despite his best efforts, one man dies, deeply traumatizing Spider-Man. Thinking that he needs to do better, Peter asks for the help of his new boss, the reformed Norman Osborn, to give a boost to his spider-sense so that he can perceive when other people are in danger too, not just himself.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Spider-Man's New Power Upgrades His Spider-Sense To Superman Levels Spider-Man's most original power is certainly the spider-sense. This is a precognitive danger or sense which warns him of potential danger with a tingling sensation in the back of his skull, enabling him to evade injuries and attacks thanks to his automatic reflexes.
The reason why Peter decides to risk an untested experiment and improve his spider-sense is not only the failure to save the man who died in the burning building. In recent stories, the Multiverse was rewritten by Shathra, the Wasp Goddess, and Peter's history as Spider-Man was erased, giving him the normal life he always wanted. In that reality, Uncle Ben was alive.
Peter's New Spider-Sense Is His Most Dangerous Power It's interesting to notice that Peter's upgraded spider-sense makes Spider-Man the equivalent of DC Comics Superman, whose enhanced senses let him perceive any potential disaster or danger happening all around the world. Superman has learned to control this ability and accepted that, despite his incredible powers, he can't save everyone.
