- Foreign ministers of Southeast Asian countries prepared for a special meeting with Myanmar’s ruling military on Tuesday in an effort to quell deadly violence and open a channel to tackle its escalating political crisis.

Police fired tear gas and stun grenades to disperse hundreds of protesters in Yangon on Monday and later combed side streets, firing rubber bullets, witnesses said. Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said his counterparts in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations would be frank when they meet by video call on Tuesday and will tell a representative of Myanmar’s military they are appalled by the violence.

But ASEAN’s effort to engage with Myanmar’s military were met with a fierce rebuke from groups in the anti-coup movement, including a committee of ousted lawmakers that has declared the junta a “terrorist” group.Sa Sa, the committee’s anointed envoy to the United Nations, said ASEAN should have no dealings with “this illegitimate military-led regime”.

Suu Kyi, 75, appeared at a court hearing via video conferencing on Monday and looked in good health during her appearance before a court, one of her lawyers said. Two more charges were added to those filed against her after the coup, she said.

Maybe they should talk with Myanmar interim government CRPH rather than that terrorist group (led by militant Min Aung Hlaing)?

What crisis? The whole world is laughing at American’s fake democracy!

Recently my friend's baby was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia & needs a stem cell transplant. Jason & his wife are first-time parents caring for a sick baby & could use some help. If you are in a place to donate or share, it would be appreciated.

There is not crisis! There is unlawful military coup.

They should not stand for those terrorists or else, those so-called ministers will become accomplice of terrorists themselves. WhatsHappeningInMyanmar ASEAN MilkTeaAlliance

Southeast Asian summit to address Myanmar's post-coup crisisBANGKOK (AP) — When the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations holds a special summit Saturday to discuss Myanmar, the regional body will be under as much scrutiny as the general who led the February coup ousting the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi. Opponents of the junta are furious that ASEAN is welcoming its chief, Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, to its meeting in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, arguing that because he seized power by force, he is not Myanmar’s legitimate leader. Also weighing heavily against him is the lethal violence perpetrated by the security forces he commands, responsible for killing hundreds of largely peaceful protesters and bystanders. “Min Aung Hlaing, who faces international sanctions for his role in military atrocities and the brutal crackdown on pro-democracy protesters, should not be welcomed at an intergovernmental gathering to address a crisis he created,” said Brad Adams, Asia director for New York-based Human Rights Watch. I mean, in order to practice diplomacy, you have to invite to the table people with whom you disagree, right? Was Fidel Castro not invited to anything after 1959? Shame!!!!
