“Squid Game”, which takes its name from a common Korean schoolyard game, follows a group of debt-ridden losers, including an unemployed gambling addict, a North Korean refugee and a Pakistani migrant worker. Dressed in green tracksuits evoking those worn by Korean pupils during school sports and policed by shadowy supervisors in black masks and hot-pink jumpsuits, they fight for a nearly $40m prize—and their lives—in violent versions of traditional Korean children’s games.
The brutality of the competition has also rung true for ordinary South Koreans struggling with unaffordable housing and a sluggish labour market. Politicians have begun referring to the show when attacking opponents. Yet after a brief spell at the top of the Korean Netflix charts, “Squid Game” has been overtaken by “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha”, a saccharineThe global craze has prompted bemusement in South Korea.

In Belgium there are already reports of school children playing squid game and beating up the losers. So keep being bemused. The fact that gratuitous violence is being presented as some form of protest against inequality in this context is similar to turkeys voting for Christmas

This show “Squid Game” very strange and unsettling game. How come Net flux allow this kind of game it has to be band. It is not disgusting to watch and bad influence on younger generations. I think we have a problem here big one.

Saying SquidGame is overhyped is like saying MoneyHeist is overhyped. The movie entertained his intended audience, just like 007 does. That is the beauty of Art, it is diverse and evolving.
If you want to watch a well-written Korean tv show/film that talks about the class divide watch Parasite. Brilliant film from beginning to end. Squid Game has great cinematography, but poor execution towards the end.
Gangam style was such a hot world over but in Korea is was damn squib
It was a very visually pleasing show. Suspensful unique story, massive colorful creative sets, nice soundtrack. Weak in certain areas like character development and plot but can't say it wasn't entertaining. Also had some deeper symbolic meaning
