Several Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo will reopen to the public next month with reduced capacity, the Smithsonian said in a news release, with certain safety measures in place.

Some of the reopened facilities will operate at reduced hours and none will have public tours, the Smithsonian said. Some gift shops, theaters, and interactive exhibits will be closed or operate with reduced capacity. All other Smithsonian facilities will remain closed for the time being.

The Smithsonian closed its museums in March 2020 within days of the declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic. Eight facilities reopened between July and October but were closed to the public again on Nov. 23.reported that Smithsonian attendance dropped to 3.3 million in 2020, down from 22.1 million in 2019.
