Solomon: Houston Texans Senior Showcase puts under-recruited athletes on the map

A simple 10-yard comeback route was more than just the play of the day at the 15th annual Houston Texans Senior Showcase.Rasgado, who played at Waltrip, was one of some 400 unsigned high school seniors who were there Saturday morning, still hoping for a chance to play at the next level.“When I woke up this morning, I said, ‘This is a life-changing day for me, either I’m gonna get it or I’m not,’” Rasgado said. “And I said, ‘I’m gonna go get it today. I’m gonna get money today.

Events like this – free to students and featuring schools rarely seen on ESPN – present options many have never considered. “This exposure gives us a chance to introduce young men to something they probably didn’t know was out there,” Aurora University defensive coordinator Troy Sheppard said. “Your focus at their age tends to be in your area or your state. The more you learn about all the opportunities out there, it opens up doors for you.
