For those second-guessing their plans to travel to see the total solar eclipse due to uncertain weather conditions, there's a chance canceling the trip — flight, hotel, rental home and car — could come at an extra price. The total solar eclipse will take place Monday and experts expect visibility in certain parts of the state to be better than others as the countdown to the event continues.
San Antonio and Hill Country prepare for eclipse Spirit Airlines, for example, allows guests to either change or cancel their reservation for free 60 days or more in advance of the scheduled trip. After that time frame, the company charges a fee depending on how far in advance the cancellation or change to the reservation takes place. If it's between 31 and 59 days, it costs $69 to make any changes.
Here are some times you should see the eclipse According to United Airlines' general refund policy, a patron can cancel a basic economy ticket and get a refund within 24 hours of booking the flight as long as it's at least one week or more prior to their scheduled departure. Also, United doesn't allow changes to basic economy tickets.
