Although up to 4 inches of snow could fall in the upcoming storm, it is not expected to begin accumulating until around midnight Friday.

Becky Metrick | bmetrick@pennlive.com

National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Steinbugl said across the lower Susquehanna Valley, snowfall accumulation amounts will be pretty uniform, ranging from 2-4 inches in most places. The heaviest snowfall will be after midnight into the pre-dawn hours Friday, he said, with the snow ending between 7 to 9 a.m.

Temperatures will not rise high enough Friday to melt any of the snow, likely topping out around 30 degrees, Steinbugl said. Then Sunday, temperatures will fall into the 20s overnight, bringing some freezing rain to the area Sunday morning. The amount of snow that falls could vary an inch or two around the region, but the NWS expects the impacts of the storm to be the same.
