The sentence, handed down in a Brooklyn federal court overseen by U.S. District Judge Nicholas Garaufis, is far less than the minimum 14 years recommended by sentencing guidelines.Mack faced a maximum sentence of nearly 18 years in prison under the guidelines after she pleaded guilty in 2019 to blackmailing two women who were part of the NXIVM group run by Keith Raniere.In April 2019, Mack was convicted on racketeering charges and was out under house arrest on $5 million bail.
