Sister Act 3 will honor the original film and its sequel, says Tyler Perry. Released in 1992, Sister Act quickly became a cult classic and helped solidify Whoopi Goldberg as a Hollywood icon. Written by Paul Rudnick, Sister Act follows Vegas lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier , who enters a convent as Sister Mary Clarence under the witness protection program after she sees her mobster partner commit a violent crime.
Sister Act was a box office success and spawned a sequel, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, which featured Goldberg and her resident nun sisters reprising their roles, as well as the breakout performance of musical artist Lauryn Hill. Released in 1993, Back in the Habit appeared to be the singing nun’s swan song. However, in 2018, Disney+ announced Sister Act 3 was officially in the works. Last year, the threequel gained traction with the announcement that Tim Federle would direct the project.
It's more Whoopi than anything. I wanted it to be the experience that I had watching both of them. I want everybody who watches it to feel that way coming out of the theater, to feel that sense of good in life. And as far as Whoopi goes too, because I just want to make sure that she was honoring Dolores and honoring the ladies and the nuns, and what they had done before, so, I'm pretty excited about the script. It's going to be really, really phenomenal.
Producer by Perry, Sister Act 3 has yet to reveal plot details, a title, and an official release date. So far, updates for the movie have been scarce, but it sounds like everything is falling in place for filming to begin soon. Luckily, Sister Act 3 will stay close to its musical roots with Marc Shaiman, who helmed the musical arrangements for the first two films, on board.
Those who love Sister Act and its sequel should be relieved by Perry's comments. With follow-up movies, particularly those that come many years later, there's always a concern they will tarnish the franchise or ruin what made it great. However, it sounds like Sister Act 3 will take advantage of the chance to honor the original film's legacy while bringing in a new generation of viewers.
Cash grab. I already know it’s going to be bad.
So Whoopi is going to be a super woke nun that that is very pro-abortion? I'm sure this movie is going to kill it at the box office.
Is the original cast coming back if not then I’m not interested
More Goldberg bitch….GAG ME! 😡
