This month, pure-play snowboarding is back with, which drops straight onto Xbox Game Pass and PC this week . Created with a “by riders, for riders” ethos by European indie studio FoamPunch, the experience aims to bring back those memory-making outings of yesteryear with simplicity at its core.
The game’s visuals won’t exactly set your world on fire, but they certainly match up to what was promised by FoamPunch’s viral social shares in the months and weeks leading up to release. They’re dependable and enhance the game as you’re finding your feet; you’ll nearly always know if and when you’re going to miss a landing. However, the wider framing of the core game is sometimes confusing.
Pop-in features, especially at the start of runs, can be a real nuisance, and at high speed, you can find ramps rendering after you can adjust yourself to hit them. On bigger open areas, too, its solid and smooth framerate can briefly drop to around 15fps, though this is mercifully rare.
