COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A bystander at a grocery store in southwest Ohio was wounded Wednesday during an exchange of gunfire between police and a suspect who had run into the store, reports say.
The suspect also was wounded in the shooting at about 4 p.m. at a Kroger store in Colerain Township, which is near Cincinnati,that officers were called to the store to investigate a suspect. Cordie did not specify why police were investigating the suspect. They reportedly approached the suspect outside the store and he pointed a gun at officers. The suspect ran into the store and shots were exchanged, reports say. It currently is unknown who shot the bystander.“We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred at our Colerain Marketplace Kroger store located at 3636 Springdale Road,” a Kroger spokesman said in a statement to WXIX. “We are cooperating with local law enforcement, who has secured the store and parking lot.
