A 40-year-old man accused of shooting at Bexar County deputies was arrested when he surrendered after a two-hour standoff in a far Northeast Side home on Thursday. Sheriff Javier Salazar said deputies responded to a call from a man stating that he was being followed. The man, identified as Anthony Tijerina , was believed to be suffering from a mental health episode. Shortly after Tijerina’s call, his neighbor called police after he barged into her home while holding an AR-15 , Salazar said.

Tijerina retreated into the home and set up in the second-story with a “high vantage point” until authorities arrived. Both SWAT and patrol deputies established communication with Tijerina, and Salazar said he later surrendered.
