Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) The family of Shatina Jones is calling for justice in her murder as they mourn her loss.

The family of Shatina Jones is calling for justice in her murder after she was fatally shot on Rialto Street on May 6, 2024.

"She was loving," said Andrea Tripp, Jones's sister. "Everybody she came in contact with loved her. She was just so fun. She was -judgmental, caring. She would do anything for anybody. That woman was just so good to everyone, and it’s just so tragic she had to go like this. I never in a million years thought my sister would’ve lost her life to gun violence."

Tripp says Jones was in the city to celebrate her daughter Shyasia's 26th birthday at the Sexyy Red concert at the Blue Cross Arena before heading back to Buffalo."She's been there before," said Tripp. "We've gone there for birthday parties. Our families, we grew up together. So, it was just my sister staying one night. She just stayed one night at her best friend's house.

"She was innocent," said Tripp. "She didn’t do nothing to no one. She was at a friend's house where she was supposed to have been safe, and someone came and took her life for nothing.""My mother was an entrepreneur," said Shyasia Doucette. "She did a little of everything. She worked in a salon. She cooked. She did everything. She was at the same job for over 16+ years once she stopped doing hair.
