NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio pleaded for community help to curb the destruction that has begun to spiral out of control in recent days as his adversary Gov. Andrew Cuomo chastised the NYPD's response and openly speculated about removing the mayor from office

NEW YORK — A visibly shaken Mayor Bill de Blasio pleaded with community and religious leaders to help curb the destruction that has begun to spiral out of control in recent days as his longtime adversary Gov. Andrew Cuomo chastised the NYPD's response and openly speculated about removing the mayor from office.

De Blasio — at a tense news conference during which he snapped at reporters and called on local leaders to take a more active role in the protests — forcefully denounced the idea of allowing organized troops onto city streets, arguing their presence would only ratchet up tensions and heighten the chaos he is trying to tamp down.

Shea also defended de Blasio's handling of the situation and said more political leaders should show similar support for the NYPD. It was unclear whether the administration had laid any of the groundwork to coordinate gatherings before de Blasio’s plea. The mayor’s office has a community affairs unit dedicated to forging and maintaining relationships with residents and organizations across the five boroughs.

We’ve seen your daughter. Nobody is listening to you. 🤣🤡💩🚽

Cuomo is correct. The mayor needs to control the very few criminals - those perpetrating violence against ANYONE and destroying property! He’s got the police force to do it.

The Mayor needs to have a relationship and profile with his people. No one can help him but himself

Both Cuomo and DeBlasio should be removed. Total mismanagement from the beginning. Results not good press conferences.

De Blasio needs to resign - but also could you remove your watermark from the box showing the sign language interpreter? It obstructs the view of signing and facial expressions (a necessary element of ASL)

Way to little, way too late NYCMayor

Has BilldeBlasio called his puppet master TheRevAl?

How weak of a mayor is de Blasio? The fact that Cuomo has criticized the police and Bill hasn't, makes Bill look incredibly weak. And Cuomo is even worse than de Blasio on policy!

This is a clown in a mayor's suit.

Help the governor out and just resign.

Stop the speculation and remove him now.

Just do YOUR job or call for help.

well you have certainly made your bias clear

Cuomo is the 2-bit corrupt thug the world always knew he was. The Fake News honeymoon is over.

Our problems are great but the heart of America is greater. And Guess what? The heart of America is neither White nor Black

Bill de Blasio is a terrible mayor.
