SF Giants ace Logan Webb, Marlins’ Sandy Alcántara share ‘important’ trait, mutual respect

SAN FRANCISCO — Giants manager Gabe Kapler commented this week that he considers innings pitched “one of the most important” metrics to judge a starting pitcher by, and their weekend series against the Marlins features two of baseball’s sturdiest workhorses.

Entering his start Saturday, Webb’s 59 innings were the most of any pitcher in the National League through their first nine starts, second only in the majors to Nathan Eovaldi .
