and did costumes for both film adaptations of the HBO series—were excited at the opportunity to revive Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda’s famed fashions.
“Danny and I happened to both be in Miami, and the producer was like, ‘Why don’t you guys spend two weeks down there? Because we start the show in spring, summer, and you’re where the spring, summer, really, clothes are,” Rogers tells“Danny’s entire vintage collection is in a warehouse [in Miami], so that really helped us get off on the right foot."
“We had every black dress you could imagine, but we just kept going back to that dress,” Santiago says. “There’s just something beautiful about it—it’s almost like a ballerina dress. The back is open, and the silhouette, it’s so formfitting. And that open wide skirt with such a delicate lace on top of it—it was perfect.”The Lillie Rubin dress, with its ’50s silhouette, was styled with complimenting vintage accessories: an ornate bubble bag from Palm Beach and $10 thrift shop heels.
Though the ladies and their lives have evolved, Santiago and Rogers say they didn’t take a different approach to dressing the trio in their 50s than they did when the women were in their 30s. As Rogers explains it, age isn’t and shouldn’t be a factor when it comes to fashion.
