Damaging thunderstorm winds, hail and a few tornadoes are possible, particularly in the areas of greater risk shaded in the map below.Heavy rain could also contribute to localized flash flooding in the region, particularly in locations that have become saturated by recent rainfall. Flash flood watches have been issued by the National Weather Service from parts of the northern Gulf Coast into northern and central Georgia.The overall threat of severe weather will trend downward on Wednesday as this weather system tracks toward the East Coast. There could be a few severe storms that produce damaging wind gusts and/or hail from the southern mid-Atlantic and Southeast coasts into parts of the northern Gulf Coast.
