The Austin Fire Department said the leaked material has been identified as ferric sulfate, a substance used in water treatment.AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Fire Department , Transportation Department and Austin Water crews are responding to a"hazardous spill" near the Albert H. Ullrich Water Treatment Plant Tuesday morning.it had crews on the scene of a spill in the 1000 block of Forest View Drive, the same West Austin area where the treatment plant is located.
Roughly a half-hour later, AFD said the leak had been stopped and crews were working to clean up the spill. The following intersections are closed in the area: Lake Austin and Redbud, Stratford Drive and Redbud and Forest View and Redbud. At around 11:30 a.m., AFD said the leaked substance has been identified as ferric sulfate, a substance used in water treatment. Hazmat crews remain on the scene, managing clean-up efforts.
