Senate makes progress on workforce bills, gambling bill sees delays

The Senate has made progress on workforce bills, but is struggling to move forward with the gambling bill. MONTGOMERY , Ala. - legislative package. One bill provides a different pathway toward earning a high school diploma based on future career plans. Another bill renames the Department of Labor to the Department of Workforce and expands its reach. Finally, one bill establishes the Alabama Growth Alliance, a group to assist in economic development.

“All of these groups have come together to coalesce around this idea of the workforce legislation,” Reed said. “I’m excited about it.” However, gambling legislation is seeing delays. The House and the Senate still need to hash out their disagreements.
