Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said she was"stunned" by remarks given by House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler at the, where he accused senators of being complicit in a cover-up if they shot down measures to hear from additional witnesses.
Collins, a key moderate who Democrats are hoping to convince that more witnesses should be heard from during the trial, said the remarks caused her to write a note to Chief Justice John Roberts, asking whether the Senate's rules had been violated. "I was stunned by Congressman Nadler’s approach, and it reminded me that if we were in a normal debate in the Senate, that the rule will be invoked to strike the words of the Senator, for impugning another Senator in this case," she explained in an interview with Politico, remarks that were confirmed by her office."So, I did write a note raising the issue of whether there had been a violation of the rules of the Senate.
Collins said she gave the note to Laura Dove, the secretary for the Senate majority. Shortly after the note was delivered, Roberts admonished both house managers and Trump's counsel for the testy back-and-forth."I was glad that he did," Collins said. Democrats continued detailing their case against President Donald Trump as the Senate impeachment trial resumes Thursday and were expected to focus on the Constitution and the legal grounds for the president's removal.
Republican snowflake can't handle criticism... fixed the headline for you.
She's afraid of the truth
About repub senators leaving?
If she’s so concerned with the rules, how does she feel about folks leaving to give interviews? Reading? Tweeting? Sleeping? Not calling witnesses to a TRIAL? The Jurors already telling people the verdict? That’s all cool?
Did she write a note about the cell phones and iPads that were in the hearing room also?
SenatorCollins I think we are all stunned to repeatedly hear leaders deny the obvious from numerous witnesses and the President’s own admissions. What is stunning is the willfulness by which the constitution is being tossed aside by Republicans yet you’re stunned by a comment.
Well SenatorCollins I'm stunned that Congressional Republicans aren't stunned that the President of the US has corrupted the office.
clutchingpearls
This entire charade is a complete and utter waste of time and tax payers money. A joke from top to bottom. Trump is going to get away with his crimes and the electorate will be stupid enough to re-install him as President. Incredibly sad.
Senators don’t follow rules. They don’t even follow the oath of office. It’s all about politics, power, money, ego, and personal position. The constitution and our democracy is secondary.
Dear Lord...What we gonna do with clueless Mrs. Magoo?
Charade
She’s an attention grabber and needs to be voted OUT!!!
Well Susan we are 'stunned' that you support a traitor. The voting booth will tell the real story.
GOPTraitors
How about violating the constitution Collins?
Does she care about Blackburn doing a Fox interview while the trial was in session? Or reading a book? Or that a dozen Republican Senator walked out while Rep Scheff was speaking. All violations of the rules. Nope. She doesn’t care about that, the hypocrite.
Susan Collins preparing to pull a Susan Collins. Already has her excuse lined up.
Maybe she should worry more about a president that lies incessantly and has no respect for the constitution
Susan “C” Word!!!
Gaslighting
Seriously, SenatorCollins? While Republicans are leaving the chamber and doing interviews in violation of the rules? While Republicans are attempting to prevent witnesses and evidence from being used in a trial? THIS is the battle you are fighting?
A strongly worded email in her draft file?
Yet, she isn’t at all concerned that Trump VIOLATED the United States Constitution. Petty, corrupt SenatorCollins isn’t representing Maine, or American values.
Can a mistrial be declared in the Trump impeachment hearing? And if so, what would happen?
We got a glimpse of her actual cootie catcher to Justice Roberts
Susan, did you also write a note raising the issue of whether there had been a violation of the emoluments clause? anti-nepotism statutes? bribing and extortion? defying the will of Congress? acting as an unregistered foreign agent? Nah, those are in the Republican rules, right?
Pass a note saying ‘I got my spine back’ & will support impeachment.😒
ExpelSusanCollins
Collins can’t handle the truth.
Surely about the president’s council lying in front of the senate and Chief Justice
Did she write a note about Senators not staying in their seats and acting as impartial jurors when they took an oath to do so?
She better be on top of Trump's defense team when they go, because they're going to lie and slander like crazy.
I wonder if she has brain damage?
“I would like to speak to the manager”
The Senate will not convict Trump. It is written in stone. Truthfully, I hope that the GOP denies a motion for witnesses and documents. If they refuse any additional information, they (GOP) will lose the Senate come election time.
Was she in Up?
Snitch
Shrew
Does anyone enforce these BS rules. I guess not
The whole Senate may want to find a new experience.
Did she include the part where they're not supposed to leave during the hearing?
