Citing the challenges of raising a family, particularly in the midst of a pandemic and record inflation, Utah Sen. Mitt Romney has reintroduced a plan that would provide monthly payouts to working families with young children.

The Utah senator says the proposed initiative would be fully funded by reworking and consolidating “outmoded” federal programs.

Rather than perpetuate additional government spending, the initiative would be funded by “reforming and consolidating outmoded federal programs” into one “easy-to-navigate policy,” the news release says. This includes reforming the Earned Income Tax Credit and eliminating the State and Local Tax Deduction, Head of Household filing status and the child portion of the Child and Dependent Care Credit.

Referencing the declining population, Romney said that one of the reasons people may be hesitant to get married and have children is because they don’t know if they can afford it. And many don’t know how to access the benefits currently offered to families. According to the senator, a quarter of people who are currently eligible for these types of benefits don’t apply.

“We must do better to help families meet the challenges they face as they take on the most important work any of us will ever do — raising our society’s children' Then why limit the benefit for those who don't make $10,000 a year? They are the ones who most need help.

Focus on the elderly

This guy is a joke. He want to continue in power that is why he is doing what he is doing. While the Country is Falling in pieces because Socialism

Hitting inflation like this hands tax money to families who in turn hand it to corporations that are price-gouging. Ultimately it enriches corporations at the expense of taxpayers--a GOP pillar. YES to family aid, but also reign in the price-gouging.

I don’t want your plan! Get bent!

Romney is one of those politicians that believes in handing out other people's money to gain votes for himself.

What a sack crap! You are to be removed!! You are not good for UT! Go back to Michigan! For the life of me the lds church as not done nothing to rain you in? You should be EX’d by the church! Get real and start working for the ppl of Utah!

ap_follett This is good and will help working class families bear the brunt of inflation.

Mitt Romney’s moocher theory, ... 47 percent of the public doesn’t pay income taxes and lives off the dole & mooches up a storm & takes & takes and takes and buys booze with food stamps and whatnot, and that collectively these pathetic lowlifes go under the label of “Democrats.”

But but but socialism

So more inflationary measures to combat inflation? Makes sense, Mitt

I'm all for this, the child tax credit helped so many, but republicans refused to reauthorize it, was MittRomney one of them?

How many times do we have to learn this lesson? Massive government spending ALWAYS leads to inflation. Anyone think that stimi check you got once or twice was worth what we are suffering through now? Anyone want more of this? This is seriously the last thing this economy needs.

Just like the Child Tax Credit did?

There has to be some kind of Mormon scam behind it

Is it coming from the NRA? 🤷‍♂️

DaMarques_UFC Where is the money coming from? Giving out free money don't work didn't we spend the last 2 years learning that. Isn't that why we are I'm this position to begin with? What a turd.

How about you cut their taxes instead.
