Inflation,Congress,Economy

Sen. Mike Lee sat down for an interview on Tuesday with KUTV to discuss issues voters rank as their top priorities heading into the November elections.

Inflation and the economy consistently rank as top issues for voters. Democrats and Republicans are often light years away on the issue, meanwhile Republicans are divided within their own party. That divide was evident as the senator endorsed newcomer Colby Jenkins in Utah’s Congress ional District 2 race over incumbent Rep. Celeste Maloy.Maloy has opted to vote on spending bills in an effort to make some progress over an all-or-nothing deal, while Sen.

“All Democrats voting for them and enough Republicans for them to pass in both houses of Congress. When you do that, the distinctions between the two parties tend to blur. Remember that Nobel laureate economist Milton Friedman used to say that the true cost of government is measured not by the tax rate so much as the rate of government spending as a percentage of the economy.”

On the crisis at the southern border, Lee mentioned, “HR2 passed by the House of Representatives a year ago Thursday. It has been sitting in the Senate for 367 or 368 days since then, untouched by the Senate. I do think that would get us moving firmly in the right direction.”
