Sen. Gillibrand: Expand GI bill to make college free with public service

Yeah. Imagine. Now what about graduates still paying perpetual loans w accruing interest. American FSL program makes loan sharks a better option.

Need to force the institutions providing the education to have some skin in the game on these loans. Force some costs for default on the institution. We do this for many other loans for large costs.

What about current loan forgiveness?

So because you are rich you don’t have to perform 1year of public service to be able to attend free college, and this is similar to the draft for the poor only,because you can’t afford college you are forced into public service in the military etc,for one year?

SenGillibrand how about they join the military and earn G.I. Bill benefits? They might learn what the real world is like, not the fake liberal view. US tax payers shouldn’t pay for personal choices. Join the military, see the world, learn a profession and earn GI Bill benefits.

I would like to see some kind of student loan repayment/ work program. I have a lot of debt from grad school and it would be great to be able to help people using the skills that I've acquired. We could be ambassadors w/skills. Go to Central America where we are invited.

Actually a great idea. One year college for each year of public service . Stop giving money to other countries and stop funding border jumpers.......you will then have the funds. Money well spent.

Funny you should say that...because if your system is 'public service for free college' we already have that: It's called the GI bill, serve 4 years in the military and 4 years in reserve, and you get your college paid for when you go to college
