Secret, a sponsor of the US Women's National Soccer team, is now supporting its members' fight for pay equity as well.
The deodorant brand plans to make a"tangible commitment" to the team's demand for equal pay, it told CNN Business, contributing $529,000 to the US Women's National Team Players Association. In a full-page ad printed in Sunday's New York Times, Secret says it will donate $23,000 for each of the 23 players on the World Cup winning team to help close the pay gap. Secret also urges the organization to"be on the right side of history.
Noooo, they will donate the money because it is very cheap marketing for them you doughnuts
rak_strong Not to diminish the importance of equal pay but there are far more critical recipients of cash in this country than well-paid athletes. I hope the recipients can divert those funds to people struggling to survive so it's not just a political statement.
That's honestly the best ad campaign I've seen in a while. Nice going.
P&G knows their demographics and excels at their marketing ploys
Will be buying “Secret “. Way to go 👍👍👍
Now Secret you have to beg people to watch. You know fans. The fan base is so small for women's soccer. Hence pay difference. Maybe talk to the Male pro athletes in soccer. Maybe they will give a percentage of their pay to women's soccer. Probably not.
Here's another idea. Hire better contract negotiators. But stop the bogus pay gap narrative.
After they showed up late to the party, for clout.
Don’t get me wrong, it was very nice of Secret to do this. And why shouldn’t they take out an ad to announce this?!! Some donors choose to be anonymous. They do it because it’s the right thing to do. They don’t seek recognition, or gains. I truly🤞 Secret does this every year.
It about time women’s products took sponsorship. Should’ve happened in the WNBA too.
The pay gap argument is absolutely bogus. The women are paid a higher percentage compared to the men on far less revenue. The women have guaranteed salaries, unlike the men which are performance based. Men paid 7% of revenue. Women paid 20% of revenue. Plus guaranteed salaries
Ok. Switching deodorants.
