Scream 2022 Holiday Posters Show Ghostface Slashing Through The Snow

Ghostface brings his unique brand of festive cheer to the holidays in the latest Scream posters. The upcoming slasher will mark the first movie in the Scream franchise in over 20 years and the first to be directed by frequent horror filmmaker Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and not Wes Craven, following the legendary director's passing in 2015. Scream will once again follow the teenagers of Woodsboro as they become the targets of a new killer who begins wearing the iconic Ghostface mask.

While Scream will bring plenty of new faces to the franchise, the movie also boasts a plethora of characters who have previously taken on Ghostface and survived, including Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell, all reprising their roles from the first four films. Roger L. Jackson will also return to provide his vocal talents to the Ghostface mask, reprising his role from the previous Scream movies and the subsequent Scream anthology series.

These festive-themed takes on the iconic killer come off the back of another recent Scream poster that declares the killer is among the large cast, inviting viewers to begin guessing who it is wearing the Ghostface mask. The original Scream helped revitalize the slasher genre, but with many fantastic modern slashers keeping the genre alive, 2022's Scream will need to do something fresh to help find its place in modern cinema.

Scream has always told its serial killer story with a cheeky wink, especially when compared to Craven's more traditional horror movies, so it's great to see the latest entry in the franchise is sticking to this formula that works so well. Honoring Craven is clearly an aspect that Bettinelli-Olpin is keen on achieving in his vision of the Scream franchise, and these fun and horrifying posters solidify that the director is on the right track.

They should delay it to next Halloween
