It was lizzo’s first time performing at an award show and we’re so proud of our mom for shutting it down

Lizzo gave her first performance at an award show at the MTV Movie and TV Awards last night, and her live rendition of "Juice" was inspired by Sister Act 2. The gospel, according to Lizzo, involved a lot of twerking.

The singer started her performance wearing a purple robe similar to the one that Lauryn Hill wore during the performance of"Joyful, Joyful" at the end of the film. She also chose to include an offstage moment that directly mirrored the film. While her dancers were waiting backstage in robes, someone told them that"Lizzo says take off your robes." In Sister Act 2, a stage manager told students waiting backstage,"The teacher says take off your robes.

For a first awards show performance, Lizzo definitely came at it like a pro. The only thing missing was a cameo from Whoopi Goldberg. Watch the full performance, below. For Pride, MOBI gathered over 40 LGBTQ community members and supporters to discuss exactly what community, identity, and pride mean to them. Led by MOBI visual director LaQuann Dawson, they revealed how they each found community, and how their identities led them to where they are today.

It's another example of the DNC pandering to their idea of a millennial or Gen Z voter, and it's cringe-inducing for a variety of reasons, but most of all because it shows that the DNC still doesn't realize that just because young voters love memes, it doesn't mean that they don't want, you know, actual policy proposals and a plan of action to unseat Trump.
