Director Martin Scorsese and his mob epic “The Irishman” have been honored by AARP The Magazine.

FILE - In this Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, file photo, director Martin Scorsese poses for photographers upon arrival at the premiere of the film "The Irishman" as part of the London Film Festival, in central London. Scorsese and his mob epic “The Irishman” have been honored by the AARP. In a Saturday night, Jan. 11, 2020, ceremony, the group named it the top movie for grownups in the past year, defining that group as people aged 50 and over.

NEW YORK — The Golden Globes may not have shown much love to filmmaker Martin Scorsese and his epic “The Irishman,” but the AARP has. The lengthy mobster’s tale was just best movie for grownups, in the 19th annual awards doled out by AARP The Magazine. The awards ceremony was held Saturday in Beverly Hills, Calif. Scorsese, its maker, was named best director.

Adam Sandler, who stepped away from roles that appealed to an audience considerably younger than the 50-plus group that the AARP awards cater to, won best actor for his serious turn as a jeweler in “Uncut Gems.”Supporting actor awards went to Laura Dern, who played a colorful divorce lawyer in “Marriage Story,” and Tom Hanks, who was Mr. Rogers in “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.

AARP supports Socialism

🙄🤮

You mean that 3 hour long snooze fest?

LMAOOOOOO

No bueno- too long and CGI didn’t work with DeNiro or Pesci: they looked like old and not young versions of themselves. Movie should’ve been an netflix miniseries cause there was so much material.

Meh.

Saw it. Watching paint dry was more exciting than this movie.

Yeah, if we could just stop making movies that normalize violent criminals, that'd be great.

Lmao

Overrated director

I love mob movies, Scorsese and just about every actor in the movie. But this film was horrible. Bored the he’ll out of me.

Um. Not necessarily the award he was shooting for . . .

😂🤣

Oh wow! Did he get a golden case of Fixodent?

Guess Hollywood has to get it's awards anywhere it can. The public didn't like it that well. Maybe AARP will get some free press out of Hollywood.

A movie about a bunch of boomers murdering other boomers, starring a bunch of boomers (and Ray Romano!), directed by a boomer, wins boomer magazine award.

Great movie, if seen over a three day period! Why did I keep waiting for a body to be part of a cement pour?

Of course old white people enjoyed a 3 hour movie about old white people directed by an self-obsessed old white man. Granted, it probably took them a week to watch it and if you asked them now, they wouldn't remember any of it.

Is this a joke! AARP - What next Prunes were honored by AARP for keeping it regular 🙄🤣🤣🤣

So?!?.. AARP sent me a birthday card I threw it in the garbage. I could give a s*** last what AARP supports and awards.

Thought this was an Onion article for a second

I used to respect Scorsese. But not after seeing him at that table with all those lunatic wops like Deniro.

Great movie

Who cares? They have been responsible for perpetuating the worst stereotypes imaginable for Italian Americans.

This movie had a ridiculous number of inaccuracies.

Mr. Scorsese is a beast. A comedian. A director of moving images. But he's also a human being, with heart and shame and scars.

This headline in the punchline.

'Holy Grail' digital effects rewinding the clock for actorsEach film has arrived at its reverse aging trick through a different technique, leading some to call 2019 a monumental year for de-aging in film. Some have been better than others but it has been wild. Absolute garbage seeing how I'm tired of seeing the same actors hog up all the roles. There excessive and then there Samuel Jackson. Smh And soon to send acting as a profession to the annals of history. Once automation and AI start replacing the jobs of the wealthy and elite then we might see the working class finally benefit from the fruits of technology, not just the rich
