Scientists have discovered a breakthrough technology, a way to pull CO2 from the atmosphere and turn it back into coal. This new discovery has the potential to change the way we think about CO2.

into coal, acting to remove the greenhouse gas from the atmosphere and lock it away in solid carbon form.

Carbon sequestration, the act of removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and locking it away is a growing field aimed at mitigating climate change. Major oil and gas companies, likein porous reservoirs within Earth. However, this approach is expensive as it requiresto be compressed into liquid form and injected into rock formations within Earth. Due to cost, this approach is not economically viable without heavy subsidies and/or a carbon tax to help offset costs.

Carbon sequestration, the act of removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and converting it to a liquid or solid form, presents an appealing approach to mitigating climate change.

rizwanhk These are REALLY GOOD NEWS : a very good start for what can bring important changes in the near future. USA, UK, Japan, Germany should encourage these studies realDonaldTrump theresa_may ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Scientists Just Pulled CO2 From Air And Turned It Into Coal

trevornace Would benefit from some comments on scalability, availability of metal and power requirements

trevornace Interesting. Any info on the energy budget of the process (i.e. how much energy it takes to convert the CO2 back to carbon vs. how much was released by oxidizing the carbon in the first place)? What is the other byproduct, O2 or something else?

A big advancement in our world bringing CO2 emissions from the earth's atmosphere and repurposing it into solid coal. This is an inexpensive process and can help clean our air. 3500EDGEZachary

trevornace So you're going to waste an amount of fuel to make a smaller amount of fuel, which the Earth does for free? Got it.

What are the after or side effects of this carbon sequestration to human and environment?

trevornace Carbon sequestration looks like a game changer for climate change management. Amazing. Nice article, I flipped this into my magazine.

Interesting, but Im skeptical. Its great it pulls C02 out of the air, but turning it into coal for new use, just converts it back to C02.

Efficiency is key.

Or you could just plant trees. Just saying.

Shut it down. We need those materials and recourses to construct high-speed rail!
