School district considers tearing down Columbine High School due to increase in 'morbid fascination'

Jeffco School District in Colorado is asking the community for their opinion on whether Columbine High School should be torn down and rebulit due to the increase of others 'morbid fascination' with the school, a letter from the district says.

In 1999, 13 people were killed by two students in a mass shooting at the school in Littleton, Colorado. Nearly two dozen others were injured."The tragedy at Columbine High School in 1999 serves as a point of origin for this contagion of school shootings," Jason Glass, superintendent, says in the letter."School shooters refer to and study the Columbine shooting as a macabre source of inspiration and motivation.

Be renamed and for the Media not to compare the new name with the old name and killings. Just sweep it under the rug as we do in America.

The morbid fascination is with guns not buildings.

Hard to believe. These people come up with every stupid idea in the book to deal with your gun violence, particularly in schools. You won’t have a school left in the country in a few years with a plan like this. Did you ever consider acually dealing with guns.

If this becomes precedent we are going to be tearing down and rebuilding a LOT of schools... We need to fix the problem, not every place it occurs.

I would say make some type of memorial, but I’m sorry to say I don’t have much faith in people anymore. After a while, they either don’t remember or can’t remember correctly. It was just the anniversary of D-Day & the US has concentration camps on the southern border.

I had no idea till today how large the facility is... They do have a memorial behind the football field, it appears... They should do some new signs, give it a face lift but tearing it down seems like a hug undertaking.

Yes, let's remove a public school from the area without funding for a replacement, forcing the students to travel miles due to the fact that the hateful public can't be bothered to grow up. We'd rather rob students of an education than regulate guns and teach empathy.
