JUST IN: A board member of K9s United, who happened to be at First Coast Veterinary Emergency, sent News4JAX these photos of the police chopper as it arrived at the clinic in Jacksonville Beach.

The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, which is in the area, announced it was temporarily closed after the JSO announced it was investigating an “officer-involved incident” in the area. They said units in the area of Busch Drive were searching for an “armed suspect.”

Multiple sources also confirmed the incident stemmed from another scene on West 45th Street, where someone fired a gun and sped off, later crashing on Busch Drive. Sources later confirmed when investigators pulled a red car out of the brush following the crash, two bodies were found inside. Sources confirmed a police K-9 was shot when the gun was fired on West 45th Street and flown to an emergency veterinary clinic in Jacksonville Beach for treatment.A board member of K-9s united, who happened to be at the animal clinic, sent a photo of the police chopper as it arrived at the clinic in Jacksonville Beach.News4JAX is working to gather additional information.

Neither human or canine police should be put at risk by a lunatic! If a criminal flees from the police, they should be shot. Period.

K9s are for when cops puss out and send in a dog to do a cop's job. These dogs are exploited.
