) - Heavy rain and flooding are possible through Saturday afternoon, as we have a favorable setup for numerous thunderstorms. We have already had an active start to the day, with some areas of strong winds observed from thunderstorms. We have also been tracking the heavy rain produced by these storms. Rainfall totals have been climbing fast in a few areas, and flash flood warnings have been issued. Additional rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches will be possible, with locally higher amounts.
Apart from the flooding threat, we have a level one risk for severe weather, with the main threat being damaging winds. As mentioned, we have seen a few damaging wind reports across the area this morning. More isolated strong storms will be possible through the afternoon. This evening, we are expecting rain to end for much of the area. An afternoon round should develop across the southern half of the area, and drift out by the evening. Overall, rain chances remain lower in our inland communities.Sunday will still feature rain and storms, but the timing is a bit more defined. Other than a few morning showers along the coast, we expect pop-up afternoon thunderstorms much like a typical summer day. These thunderstorms will last into the evening.
