I don't get It either. If I'm a casting director and an A+ star who happens to be legitimately one of the most beautiful women on earth, Likes the script and wants to star In a film about trans people, gay people, Army people.. You let them. Sometimes PC goes to far.
There has to be limits on acting, we do not want white actors in black face for example. And LGBTQ actors have often been overlooked for their more famous cis counterparts.
