SB Nation Reacts: Optimism in the air among Seattle Seahawks fans

The results are in from our first Confidence poll of the new season. This was a simple “yes/no” question about whether or not you believed the Seattle Seahawks organization is heading in the right direction, aka building its way back up to being a true playoff contender again. Obviously if we isolated things to confidence in this season, it’d be very low unless I’ve way underestimated how many expect the playoffs from this first post-Russell Wilson team.

Now long time SBN Reacts readers and voters know this will fluctuate wildly any given week, so when the regular season rolls around the responses to this will probably look very different than the August polling. 76% is high but not stupendously high like many of the other fanbases polled. The Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams, Chargers, Cincinnati Bengals, etc. are well into the 90s as you might expect. There are only two teams with sub-50% confidence entering the preseason are the Cleveland Browns and the Arizona Cardinals. Not sure why the Cardinals are that low but I guess I’ll just have to study the tape and see where the concerns are.

Blind, groundless optimism is all a part of the Lollipops 'n' Unicorns Seattle character. If they had Rebel Wilson and Dick Van Dyke competing for the QB job, they'd find a way to be hopeful about that, too.

Tanking to draft a franchise QB is the right direction.

I think there is a way we sneak in the playoffs I trust lock I don't think we will get a good pick even if we don't make the playoffs

Define right direction! The right direction under PC has passed.... 5 wins this season maybe 6 if a team gives them a game.... In my books that not the right direction..

There’s always optimism at the start of a new season. Take the pulse again after 4 or 5 games.

I tend to agree with this. I think this season will be grim but we’ll be in a much better place this time next year

Headed in the right direction but with no quarterback.

Yes they are headed in the right direction now with there salary distribution returning to normal but its like they just left the house at the start of the trip, they have a whole journey ahead of them which is going to take at least the next 3 years to actually get somewhere.

When you whiff as long as they have .. let us be reminded that a broken clock is right 2x every 24 hours. Love this draft and 2012 .. slim picking over 10 years for the most part🏈😎( I did say slim not zero)

I feel better now than I did before the draft. Too many years of taking 3rd round talent in the first round has this team playing catch up. I would say I am hopeful, but not confident.
