A Saudi Arabian Grand Prix marshal has been removed after saying on Twitter he hoped seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton suffered an accident similar to Romain Grosjean's fiery crash in Bahrain in 2020.

A spokesman for Formula One's governing body said the unnamed marshal, writing in Arabic, would play no further part in the race weekend in Jeddah.

The marshal apologised in a subsequent tweet to the Saudi motorsport and motorcycle federation and to Mercedes driver Hamilton, who said on Friday he wanted to see more change in the kingdom. Then-Haas driver Grosjean suffered burns to his hand but miraculously jumped out of his burning car in the Bahrain crash that marked the end of his Formula One career. The Frenchman now races in the U.S.-IndyCar series.Reporting by Alan Baldwin in London, editing by Clare FallonSubscribe to our sustainability newsletter to make sense of the latest ESG trends affecting companies and governments.

“Removed” not “fired.” The choice of words is always very interesting.

I remember my mom telling me, 'Watch what you say'. I've taught my son, 'Careful what you type'.

This country is not known for its humanity. Quite the opposite.

House GOP vows 'grand plan,' not obstruction, as it eyes majorityHouse GOP leaders are readying an agenda that their members can all get behind if, or perhaps when, they retake the majority this fall. Translating that unity into floor votes will be the real challenge. The four core values driving republicans: 1. Accumulation and concentration of power 2. Radical upwards redistribution of wealth 3. Voter suppression 4. Eugenicism Are you seriously parroting the propaganda that these are people who want to 'save' America? “Save” like throwing a brick at a drowning person. No thanks.
