WATSONVILLE — Police are seeking witnesses to a fatal crash Thursday night that took the life of a 33-year-old female pedestrian.
The crash site, at South Green Valley Road between Loma Prieta and Carey Avenue, was placed on a hard closure while the Watsonville Police Department’s Traffic Unit investigated. The woman has been identified by the Santa Cruz County Coroner’s Office as Marlyn Uribe, of Watsonville. Relying on witness reports, Watsonville police investigators believe the woman, who was reportedly pregnant, had incorrectly crossed four lanes of traffic when a white BMW struck her, shortly before 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The impact forced the BMW to crash into a Ford sport utility vehicle head-on, according to police.
