Forecasters say the winds will gust 20 to 30 mph, with occasional gusts to 55 mph, mostly across inland valleys and mountains.

The National Weather Service has issued a high-wind advisory for San Diego County that will be in effect from 2 a.m. Thursday — Thanksgiving Day — until noon on Friday.

The winds will blow 30 to 40 mph, with gusts to 70 mph, in the region’s valleys and mountains. The wind will be especially strong on eastern Interstate 8 near Alpine and Pine Valley. Forecasters also expect strong gusts in Escondido, El Cajon, La Mesa, Santee, Poway, Julian and San Marcos. Forecasters say the winds will peak during daylight hours on Thanksgiving and will lift temperatures a little above average throughout most of the county.San Diego will be 73 on Thursday, which is three degrees higher than normal. Escondido will be 75 and Julian will be 53.

The weather service doesn’t expect to issue a wildfire advisory because inland chaparral is still fairly moist due to recent storms.
