The curtain is ready to rise again for the San Diego Symphony at Jacobs Music Center, the historic concert venue formerly known as Copley Symphony Hall. But it will do so on a somber note, following Tuesday's announcement of the death of Joan Jacobs, who — with her husband, Irwin Jacobs — was the symphony's biggest benefactor. The 114-year-old orchestra, the oldest in California, will take the stage on Sept.
2 in C minor, 'Resurrection,' featuring music director Rafael Payare, soprano Angela Meade, mezzo-soprano Anna Larsson and the San Diego Symphony Festival Chorus, led by Andrew Megill. Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m.: Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D Major, Schoenberg’s Pelleas und Melisande, featuring music conductor Rafael Payare and violinist Sergey Khachatryan. Friday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m.
