San Antonio mulls plan to ‘push money back’ to CPS Energy customers after summer bills ballooned

But it is recognizing that we’ve got to do our part as the owner and recognize the extraordinary situation,” Walsh said in an interview Wednesday.CPS customers’ bills jump 25 percent in May from a year ago, a windfall for city of San Antonio The city’s finance department began the year expecting to collect $361 million from CPS in the 12 months ending Sept. 30, but now is likely to bring in more than $436 million.

Bravo will put forth his own proposal during today’s council meeting, recommending the city spend $20 million on weatherization and energy efficiency upgrades to older, drafty homes that use more electricity per square foot than newer homes.On ExpressNews.com:He also wants the city to spend $20 million to address the so-called urban heat island effect in which tree removal and impervious cover such as concrete makes the inner city warmer than outlying rural areas.
